Upgrading Graffiti

Unless noted otherwise, you can upgrade to the newest version of Graffiti by using the following procedure.

Procedure

  1. Make a local copy of the Web folder contained in the root folder of your current version of Graffiti. Do this to ensure that you can recover your existing data in case you encounter problems during the upgrade and so you can migrate your existing database after you complete the download. Telligent does not anticipate any problems with your upgrade, but it is always a good idea to back up your data.
  2. Create a folder on your computer or server to which you will download the new version of Graffiti. This folder will only be a temporary repository of these files. You will eventually copy some of these files to the folder that contains your existing Graffiti files.
  3. Download the new version of Graffiti from get.graffiticms.com. Graffiti will use your existing license for the software upgrade. You should use the same Graffiti edition as your existing Graffiti software.
  4. Unzip the contents of the downloaded software to the folder you created in Step 2.

    5. If you have not backed up your files as specified in Step 1, DO SO NOW because the following step will overwrite your existing database and you will lose all of your data.

  5. Copy the Web folder and its contents from the folder you created in Step 2 to the root folder of your existing version of Graffiti, overwriting the existing files.
  6. Migrate the database from your backup files (which you performed in Step 1) to your Graffiti root folder.
  7. Regenerate your Web site.
