Graffiti Beta 1 used Access as the primary way it stored data. SQL Server was also an option, but Access gave us an awesome copy/deploy story.
Yesterday we announced that Graffiti v1.0 would also have support for MySQL.
Today we're announcing that Graffiti version 1.0 will use VistaDB as the primary database, not Microsoft Access.
We actually planned to do this prior to releasing Beta 1, mainly because Microsoft Access requires Full Trust (which luckily most hosts have enabled). VistaDB still supports copy/paste deployments and runs in Medium Trust. VistaDB also has Microsoft SQL data type and T-SQL compatibility, which means that it's going to be easier for us to support.
Thanks to the team over at VistaDB for giving us a helping hand. You are much appreciated!
How do I test the VistaDB version. I have goDaddy and can't get Access or SQL working with Graffiti
Thanks
Cool, I had never heard of VistaDB but it seems awefully cool. Good to hear this! Can't wait to use Graffiti!
@Chris: The beta that you downloaded does not have the support for VistaDB in it. The next code release will have the support for VistaDB in it as well as support for MySQL.
I got a free copy of VistaDB 2.1 when they did a blog promo. I've been in love with it since then for small projects that used to call for MS Access.
VistaDB work very fine (locally / and on Web) without any pre-installation required.
ya 'copy/deploy story' is awesome and it a plus to this breathtaking CMS
